Few riders would call the first-generation Yamaha Crossplane 3 motor underpowered, but there's widespread agreement that its factory exhaust note lacks presence—often overpowered by the signature triple-cylinder induction whir. The Kelpi CP3 Full Exhaust System changes that. Crafted from TIG-welded 304 stainless steel, this system amplifies the bike’s character, boosts torque, and shaves roughly 4kg off the stock exhaust, depending on muffler selection. The long length 1.5” diameter individual headers provide a broad power band, merging seamlessly into a shorter style 2” link and muffler that tucks cleanly underneath the bike. By optimising exhaust flow, the character of the bike comes into its own, and you’ll notice power gains straight out of the box that can be enjoyed safely on stock fuel mapping.
Performance & Tuning
Exhaust Flow & Power Gains – The CP3 exhaust allows for increased airflow, improving both midrange torque and top-end performance. Whilst every dyno gives slightly different numbers, we typically see 4-5hp gains over stock when running no baffle and stock tune, with a further 4-6hp that can be had once the fuelling has been optimised.
Weight Reduction – Saves 3.8 - 4.2kg weight over stock (muffler dependant)
ECU Tuning Recommendations – Our system runs safely on the stock tune, with particularly satisfying results across the rev and throttle range when using the included standard baffle. For absolute class-leading power across the rev range, an ECU reflash or custom dyno tune is generally recommended, especially when pairing with intake modifications that also increase airflow. Shorty Muffler: A reverse cone muffler with billet alloy end cap, classically styled with a signature low-mid resonant bark.
Flanker Muffler: A modern, lightweight design featuring a carbon end cap and mesh grill, producing a deep burble that complements the CP3 triple sound.
Alpha Muffler: A longer hydroformed curved design, offering a more moderate volume and refined tone. Its quick-change end-cap baffle allows easy volume tuning, with four distinct volume levels.
Removable Baffle Options:
Standard Baffle(included in all systems) – Lowers volume by a minimum 3dBwhile improving air fuel ratios on stock ECU map.
Quietcore Baffle(optional extra) – Reduces volume by a further minimum 3dB at the expense of some top end at wide open throttle. Ideal for European / stricter roadworthy inspections and noise-sensitive environments, clients that select the Quietcore baffle will also receive the standard baffle, giving a minimum of three volumes to select between.

Kelpi Custom Moto CP3 Exhaust Baffle Comparison
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
To install, begin by fitting the link pipe onto the headers whilst off the bike (you may need to twist these to get the slip joint snuggly seated). From there, disconnect your o2 sensor and unbolt the stock exhaust. Begin installing the new system with a note to ensure you keep the stock exhaust gaskets sitting into the motor. The best tip for this is to use a small dab of grease on each gasket which will be enough to stick it to the motor whilst you’re fitting the headers in. From there, screw on the header flange nuts ensuring that the nuts are fitted but not tightened (back them off one or two turns from snug). Slip the link pipe onto the headers, then the muffler onto the link pipe (springs will be placed later). This is the point where you want to rotate your link pipe generally counter clockwise so that you can set where you want your muffler to be positioned - you want it to be sitting in nice and close to the swingarm and rear tyre, not sticking outwards underneath your foot peg. Once you’ve got the position you’re happy with, bolt up the S bend bracket to the original stock rear muffler mounting point and bolt that to the muffler. It’s important not to torque your headers or set the springs before setting that rear position, but once your rear mounting bolts are done you’re able to torque your header flange nuts, and then begin adding the springs to the system. The tapered smaller length springs are for the muffler to link pipe, and the linear longer springs are for the merge collector to link pipe. From there, connect your o2 sensor and you’re finished! After a couple of minutes running the protective layer of oil will have burnt off, and after your first ride the exhaust will take on a golden colouring. As the stainless is brand new, the first time it colours up from rising will always be the most vibrant, so I’d recommend taking it out for a solid half hour ride at a minimum to get as much colour on the pipes as possible (note: I am not condoning illegal behavior and speeding, it’s just a note).
NOTE: Do not turn your motorcycle on or start the bike until you have reinstalled the o2 sensor. Failure to do this will result in a ‘check engine’ code being thrown which will cost $50 for yamaha to reset the code if you don’t have your own OBDLink scan tool and know-how.
